How this works

How is my debt-free date calculated?

Each month we add interest to every balance, pay the minimum on each debt, then put everything left over — the extra you enter, plus the minimums that free up as debts clear — onto one focus debt until it's gone, then the next. That snowball keeps rolling until every balance hits zero. That month is your debt-free date.

Avalanche vs. snowball — which should I pick?

Avalanche attacks the highest interest rate first, so it saves the most money. Snowball attacks the smallest balance first, so you clear a whole debt sooner and feel the win. Try both above and compare the date and the interest — often they're close, so pick the one that keeps you going.

Why does my date barely move on one debt?

If a debt's minimum barely covers its interest, almost nothing goes to the balance — that's the debt trap. Adding even a little extra, or attacking that debt first, changes the math dramatically. That's exactly the kind of move FortuniFi surfaces for you.

Is it really free?

Yes — this calculator is free and needs no sign-up. And FortuniFi itself is free the whole time you're in debt; automatic bank sync is the one paid add-on.

Estimates only, for planning. Real interest depends on your lender's exact APR, compounding, fees, and payment timing; promotional or deferred-interest balances behave differently. This is education, not financial advice. For overwhelming debt, the NFCC (nfcc.org) offers free or low-cost help.
